MOTOR VEHICLE CRIME PREVENTION AUTHORITY (MVCPA) FEE

Texas licensed insurers writing policies that meet the definition of motor vehicle or automobile insurance under Insurance Code, Article 5.01(e), Fixing Rate of Automobile Insurance must pay the MVCPA fee on these policies.

Requesting a Refund

Insurers requesting a refund for overpayment of the fee must submit a refund claim to the MVCPA Authority no later than four years after the date the fee was paid. See Texas Administrative Code, Title 43, Section 57.51

Processing the Refund

The Board provides information to the Comptroller’s office about the disposition of the refund request. The Comptroller’s office issues refunds approved by the Board.
